These dogs need a home. That’s why this site exists.

Dogs at the municipal shelter in Šabac, Serbia. Abandoned, dumped, left behind. Volunteers kept them alive. Now they need someone to take them home.

Every dog at this shelter is vaccinated, sterilised, and cared for by volunteers. They’re ready to go home. All they need is someone who’ll have them.

Zero

dogs killed since volunteers gained access. Every dog that comes in now gets a chance at a home.

23

dogs found homes at Pet Happenings in the park. They met people, people liked them, they went home.

days a year that volunteers show up. Nobody pays them. Nobody made them. They just do it.

Why These Dogs Are Still Here

The shelter in Šabac used to kill dogs to make room. Volunteers changed that. Today every dog is fed, vaccinated, and cared for – but the shelter was never meant to be their permanent home.

Vesna Teodorović and her volunteers stopped the killing, organised daily care, and started finding homes. 23 dogs were adopted in six weeks through outdoor events in Veliki Park. But they’re still waiting.

The dogs are healthy, known by name, and ready. The volunteers can tell you honestly which dog fits your life. Visit the shelter, meet them at a Pet Happening in the park, or browse the profiles on this site.

They did the hard part. The dogs are alive and cared for. Now they need homes.

The way a society treats its animals is a mirror of that society.
Vesna Teodorović, president of “Pravo na život”

Still Waiting

Some have been here for years. Some barely survived what people did to them. All of them are at the shelter in Šabac right now.

Flocke – Shelter dog at Šabac, Serbia

Flocke

Male · Small · Waiting since 2018

Seven years. That’s how long Flocke has watched other dogs get picked up and leave. He’s still here. Small, friendly, gets along with everyone. There’s nothing wrong with him – nobody chose him.

Floyd – Shelter dog at Šabac, Serbia

Floyd

Male · Lost one eye, found his spirit

Found at another shelter, missing one eye. Nobody knows what happened. Floyd doesn’t seem to care – he walks on a leash, follows commands, and bonds with anyone who gives him five minutes. His missing eye isn’t a problem. People’s hesitation is.

Sindy – Shelter dog at Šabac, Serbia

Sindy

Female · Medium · Rescued from poisoning

Neighbours wanted to poison her and her five puppies. Vesna got them out. One puppy died of parvo, one found a home, three are still at the shelter with Sindy. She’s gentle, good with other dogs, and walks on a leash.

What You Get When You Adopt from Here

Medically Prepared

Every dog is vaccinated and sterilised. They’re medically ready to leave the shelter today. You don’t need to arrange anything – it’s done.

Known by Name, Not by Number

Volunteers know every dog. They’ll help you find the one that fits your life – your flat, your family, your experience. Ask them anything. They want the match to work.

No Middlemen

Come to the shelter or to a Pet Happening in Veliki Park. Walk with the dogs. See who clicks. You meet a dog, you decide, you take them home.

If You Can’t Adopt

Donate

Every donation keeps the dogs fed and healthy until someone adopts them.

Volunteer

Walk the dogs, help at adoption events, take photos for profiles.

Foster

Take a dog home for a few weeks. Even if they move on to a permanent home – you’ve given that dog a real chance.

Share

The right home for a dog is often one shared link away. Send a profile to someone who’d be a good match.

They’re ready to go home. Waiting for you.

Browse the profiles. Visit the shelter. Meet a dog. Take them home.
